How to Interact with Our Cats
At our cat cafe, we believe that true enjoyment comes from observing and appreciating cats in their natural, relaxed state. We encourage our guests to embrace the calmness and joy of simply watching the cats. With cats, less is always more, and often, peaceful observation leads to a deeper connection with our feline friends.
To ensure a comfortable experience for both our cats and visitors, please follow these guidelines:
1. Stay Calm and Relaxed
When you enter, maintain a calm and relaxed demeanour. Avoid loud conversations or overly excited behaviour, as this can scare the cats and disturb other guests. Always walk, never run, inside the cafe.
2. Approach Slowly and Lower Yourself
Before approaching a cat, always try to lower yourself and match their height. This makes the cat feel more comfortable. Avoid hovering your hand over their head, and approach from the side.
3. No Sniffing Fingers or Close Face Contact
Do not extend your hand and place it right in front of our cats’ noses. The idea that cats need to sniff your fingers to get to know you is a myth. This can annoy them or make them unsure of your intentions, causing them to walk away. Similarly, avoid putting your face too close to theirs, as this can feel confrontational. Also, avoid staring directly at the cats, as they see prolonged eye contact as a threat.
4. Pat Gently and Sparingly
After approaching from the side, you may gently pat the cat’s back. Limit your patting to 3-5 soft strokes, and then give the cat a reasonable gap before attempting to pat again. This helps ensure the cat doesn’t become overstimulated.
5. Strict No-Patting Zones
Please avoid paws, belly, nose, whiskers, and no hugging or carrying the cats.
